It was with melancholy that Pierre was forced to part with his favourite pair of footwear last year. These beat-up old shoes were lucky to be given new life a few years ago when Pierre decorated them with shocking orange and purple laces. Thereafter the shoes had stories to tell. He has been known to take these (apparently comfy) shoes fishing, mowing the lawn and even on vacation, walking downtown city streets. In 2005 they were even offered up (unbeknownst to Pierre) for a charity auction at a family reunion rendering about $30. and going to the lucky bidder Daniel - only to have them stolen out from under Daniel a few days later by the previous owner. Yup, these shoes were quite the conversation piece. The shoes are no longer, but the colourful laces were given new life in a younger pair of shoes when Pierre mailed them to our great-nephew Jacob who was excited to put them in his shoes and show them off to his friends. Good for you Jacob in carrying on the tradition!Saturday, January 20, 2007
